Kendal Car Hire Agreement
All vehicle rentals will be governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement provided at the time of booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This agreement outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations for the rental period. In the event of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will take priority.
Eligibility Criteria
Vehicle Rental Requirements
- To rent a vehicle with Kendal Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old. Age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type, and there may be extra charges for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence, appropriate for the vehicle category, must be held for the duration specified in the Rental Agreement. Valid identification and current address proof are required, along with valid payment information and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payment Details
- Reservations for our Kendal car hire service can be completed via our website, by phone, or directly at our local office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. Full payment along with a security deposit is usually required at the time of vehicle pickup. All pricing is in British Pounds (£) and includes VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, with secure processing through trusted payment providers.
4. Car Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed to document the vehicle's state. When returning the vehicle, it should be in the same condition as when collected, allowing only for normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charges applied as necessary. The vehicle must be returned with the same fuel level as at collection; refueling fees will be incurred if the fuel level is lower. Late returns may attract additional fees, so please contact us as soon as possible if a delay is anticipated. You are accountable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges that arise during the rental period, along with an administrative fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance. Comprehensive coverage details and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. Additional insurance options may be offered to limit your financial responsibility. Reviewing these options is advisable. You will be liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount, unless additional coverage applies. Damage resulting from negligence or misuse remains your responsibility, irrespective of insurance status.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice period provided. For specific details, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur charges.
Prohibited Activities
Prohibited Uses of Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any unlawful activities or purposes. This includes racing, rallying, off-road driving, or engaging in any dangerous behavior. Transporting hazardous materials or sub-letting the vehicle to others is prohibited. Additionally, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, exceeding passenger or weight limits, and operating outside of the agreed geographical boundaries without authorization is not allowed.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Liability Limitations
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Kendal Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount paid for the rental in the prior 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury due to negligence or fraud.
Applicable Law
These Terms are regulated by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive authority of the courts in this jurisdiction.
Updates to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon posting on our website. Continued use of our services indicates acceptance of the revised Terms.
